Installing Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device

Center Software

The Microsoft Sync application must be installed PRIOR to a full compo-

nent or workstation component installation (it is not required for a Server

component installation). Depending on your operating system, you will use

either Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center Software

for PC-handheld device communication.

• Windows XP/Windows Server 2003: uses Microsoft ActiveSync

for PC-device communication. Please see “

• Windows Server 2008/Windows Vista/Windows 7: uses Mobile

Device Center Software for PC-device communication. Please see

“

Using Mobile Device Center Software” on page 8.

Installing Microsoft ActiveSync on your Desktop Computer

The Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems use

Microsoft ActiveSync for PC-device communication. ISRP v8.1 requires

Microsoft ActiveSync v4.5. If the required Microsoft ActiveSync version

is already installed on your computer, skip ahead to the next section,

“

ActiveSync Work Network Connection Setting” on page 7. Otherwise,

install the ActiveSync software according to the instructions that came with

your handheld device.

Note: You are able to download the MicroSoft ActiveSync application from

www.microsoft.com.
